The Small and Medium Enterprise and Startup Adaministration, Ministry of Economic Affairs has operated the “Social Innovation Lab” out of the converted, former Air Force Headquarters since 2016.
From a military intelligence transmission center, the lab has transformed into a communication and exchange hub for social innovation. Empowered by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), we will create an empirical field for social innovation and entrepreneurship, explore multiple social innovation models, and provide exhibition space and activity venues to enhance the public's understanding of social innovation.

經濟部中小及新創企業署自106年起將原空軍總司令部打造為「社會創新實驗中心」。從軍事情報的傳遞中心，蛻變成社會創新的交流與傳遞聚落。扣合聯合國永續發展目標SDGs ，營造創新創業的實證場域，發掘多元社會創新模式，同時提供展演空間、活動場域，提升民眾對社會創新的認知。

The story of this building
發展脈絡
During the Japanese colonial period, the Japanese Governor-General established the Industrial Research Institute to provide logistical supplies to the Japanese army; this institute also created food industry innovations like " Glutinous Rice Vinegar " for Taiwan. While the Air Force Headquarters were in operation, fighter aircraft maintenance helped bolster the development of the Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation and the precision machinery industry chain in Taichung. Now, digital social innovation, entrepreneurship and collective intelligence driven by the Social Innovation Lab will open up space for citizen participation in innovation, entrepreneurship, and social progress in Taiwan's future era of digital governance.
從日治時代日本總督府為了日軍的後勤補給設置的工業研究所，為台灣留下了像「工研醋」這樣的食品工業創新。
空軍總部時期，戰機維修留下了漢翔公司和台中的精密機械產業鍊，如今社創中心帶動的數位社會創新創業、群募才智（Collective Intelligence）將為台灣開啟未來數位治理時代公民參與的創新創業、社會進步的空間。

導覽服務
預約制，需於活動前7個工作天於線上表單填寫後提出申請，以確保權利及方便行程安排，經承辦人員確認後，以E-MAIL寄發參訪資訊。
預約成功後若未能如期前來，請於原訂參觀日期前3天來電通知並取消，否則恕不受理該單位再次之預約申請。如遇不可抗拒之重大天然災害如颱風、地震、豪雨等因素，依臺北市政府行政命令公佈後實施，中心將自動取消當日行程，申請團體須再重新提出申請。社會創新實驗中心保留活動變更之權利。
